Evaluation Question 4

Who would be the audience for your media product?

Knowing that our film would never be in cinemas and hot topic internationally or even nationally, we quite specifically tried to target a small niche demographic instead of a mass audience.

Our initial ideas when trying to come up with the plot where to appeal to mainly males between the ages of 15 and 35 with a taste for action, thriller, horror and crime genres. We did not target out film to a typical female audience, nor towards young or old people that probably would struggle to appreciate the pace and style of the film.

After coming up with a storyline for our film we made a brief synopsis to be put in our questionnaires and be explained in interviews when gathering audience research. The synopsis gave an overall run down of the film almost like a blurb giving our focus group key information about our film. We used feedback to determined whether out plot was interesting and engaging enough for audience so that we could make changes accordingly to be more appealing. We also identified our audience this way. When coming up with the story we made assumptions of our audience based on similar films and genre but our audience research gave us actual factual information.
